3.-Waste-to-Wow-1024x1024 Waste to Wow” Workshop Held at Springdales Kathua

Springdales English School, Changran, Kathua, in collaboration with Careers12.com, organized a workshop titled “The Art of Reinvention – From Waste to Wow”, conducted by faculty members from the Indian Institute of Art and Design (IIAD), Delhi, and the World University of Design, Sonipat. The workshop blended design, sustainability, and innovation into a hands-on experience for students of Classes 11 and 12.

A distinguished team from IIAD, including Ms. Sulochana, Mr. Amit, and Mr. Ayush, along with representatives from the World University of Design, Mr. Ankit and Mr. Deepak, graced the occasion.

Following an inspiring talk on how design can transform waste into value, students formed teams and took on a unique challenge: to create visually striking, wearable pieces using only waste materials brought from home or collected from the school’s ATL lab. With just 30 minutes on the clock, over 130 students enthusiastically crafted prototypes of dresses, accessories, crowns, and other fashion-forward creations using newspapers, bottle caps, scrap fabric, buttons, threads, and more.

The excitement peaked during the vibrant fashion walk, where student models confidently showcased their creations to upbeat music and loud cheers. Each team presented their concept, demonstrating creativity, teamwork, and a strong understanding of sustainability.

The guests applauded the creativity on display and delivered motivational talks, urging students to view waste as a resource and to explore the world of design as a means to shape a better future. Prof. R.K. Gupta thanked the faculty for organizing such a hands-on, experiential session in alignment with the NEP 2020 vision
